What is kinderbijslag?

Dutch kinderbijslag is a child benefit paid by the government. All parents/guardians living or working in the Netherlands with children from 0 – 18 years are eligible for Dutch child benefit. This is paid by the Dutch government through the Tax Office (Belastingdienst). This basic child benefit helps cover the costs of raising children. The amount depends on your child’s age, how many children you have, whether they live at home or not, and if they have a part-time job.

How do I apply for this child benefit?

The child benefit is paid automatically to you via the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB). If your child was born in the Netherlands, the SVB should contact you directly. If you have not heard from the SVB, you can apply for child benefit using your DigiD code.

The child benefit is paid every 3 months. Read more about this child benefit.
